When locals and visitors in Oakland look for a place to dine in a beautiful setting, they come to the waterfront.

Three restaurants opened in 2018 at Jack London Square bringing more international flavor while supporting small, local businesses: Belcampo features a sustainable meat company and restaurant; Dyafa showcases the breadth and diversity of Arab cuisine; and Farmhouse Kitchen offers diners an innovative Thai menu in a festive atmosphere. Farmhouse Kitchen is working on expansion plans for this year. The new eateries have grown the dining options in Jack London Square that include Forge, Kincaid’s, Lungomare, Plank, and Scott’s Seafood.

Have you noticed 2018 delivered a fresh look in the common areas in Jack London Square? Colorful, modern benches and lounges are seen throughout the area creating a welcoming environment. New signage began last year and more way-finders are being added this year to make it easier for visitors to find their way around.

Jack London Square management organizes more than 55 free community events. Every festival has a giving-back component with different non-profits benefiting throughout the year.

Jack London Square increased cultural diversity in the mix of public activities in 2018, making inspired choices for family-friendly festivals and entertainment. This local feel attracts a broader audience and defines Jack London Square as a hip, community-oriented destination.

The Oakland A’s organization opened its offices in the Square in January of 2018. Currently the A’s are negotiating with the Port for property adjacent to Jack London Square as a site for a ballpark.

A residential development on land next to the Square broke ground last year. Construction continues on the eight-story, 333-unit apartment building.
