Meet the Commissioners
The City of Oakland Charter gives the Board of Port Commissioners exclusive control and management of the Port of Oakland. Our Board consists of seven members nominated by the Mayor and appointed by the City Council for four-year terms. Members must live in Oakland during their term and at least 30 days prior to their appointment. Port Commissioners donate their time to the Board as they serve without salary or compensation.

Every Sunday (Rain or shine!) 10 am - 3 pm
The beautiful Jack London Square is home to a Farmer’s Market that is organized and managed by CUESA (The Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture). Market customers connect directly with farmers and sellers offering fruits, vegetables, specialty foods, flowers and more. Free cooking demos, culinary educations classes and other events are also part of the Farmers Market at the Oakland waterfront.

Second Saturday of every month, 10 am - 5 pm
Second Saturday is an open air market on the Oakland waterfront featuring up to 100 artisan vendors, children’s activities, live entertainment, and great food from local vendors and favorite eateries. True to its namesake, Second Saturday will be held every second Saturday of the month from 10 am to 5 pm. The flagship monthly event is open to the public and free to attend.

Cruise into history on board the USS Potomac with a docent led tour of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's floating White House. The Buck is held every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 11 am – 4 pm, running concurrently with Jack London Square Farmers Market giving people easy access to an assortment of vendors selling unique clothing, jewelry, fresh produce, delicious food, and more.

Make room in your schedule for this one! The Beat Generation Exhibition is open and free to the public Wednesdays through Sundays in Jack London Square, at 54 Washington Street. The exhibit features a representative collection of art, by local Abstract Expressionist Arthur Monroe who is being inducted to the Smithsonian Archives of American Art as well as other prominent, local, African-American artists.
