Meet the Commissioners
The City of Oakland Charter gives the Board of Port Commissioners exclusive control and management of the Port of Oakland. Our Board consists of seven members nominated by the Mayor and appointed by the City Council for four-year terms. Members must live in Oakland during their term and at least 30 days prior to their appointment. Port Commissioners donate their time to the Board as they serve without salary or compensation.

The beautiful Jack London Square is home to a Farmer’s Market that is organized and managed by CUESA (The Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture). Market customers connect directly with farmers and sellers offering fruits, vegetables, specialty foods, flowers and more. Free cooking demos, culinary educations classes and other events are also part of the Farmers Market at the Oakland waterfront.

The Eat Real Festival celebrates good, fresh and delicious food. The focus is on food craft, street food, handcrafted beers and local wines, featuring sustainable local ingredients. Eating is only part of the fun. You can see how to make good food and grow it! There will be demonstrations galore that highlight a DIY lifestyle.

The “90’s Experience”, a new interactive pop-up museum, celebrates the iconic music, fashion and pop culture of the years from 1990 to 1999. The exhibit is in Jack London Square at 54 Washington St. Guests can enjoy taking selfies in 90’s backdrops while listening to the decade’s iconic music and relishing in nostalgia for that memorable time.
