Building Social Equity.
The Port is deeply rooted in the fabric of Northern California. We touch almost every Bay Area resident through our airport and seaport activities, prime real estate development opportunities and the hundreds of businesses supporting that robust commerce. Powering economic vitality for diverse stakeholders is our chief objective. In addition, we are stewards, on behalf of the State of California, for nearly 20 miles of Oakland waterfront property along the San Francisco Bay and iconic Lake Merritt.
As the major economic engine for the region, our actions have enormous impacts on our community. How can we realize our goals of sustainable economic growth and real opportunity for everyone? To address the challenges of sustainability and social equity, we created the Division of Social Responsibility (SRD) to be the bridge connecting Port productivity and economic success to quality of life issues for all local residents.
We need to hear your voice. The Port holds dozens of outreach meetings to the public throughout the year. It is our opportunity to report back to you on ongoing projects, and hear your feedback. We look forward to hearing from you so that we can better serve you.
