VIEWS OF THE BAY

Middle Harbor Shoreline ParkViews of the bay that have not been available to the public for the past 100 years are now abundant throughout the park. Visitors may use the free viewing binoculars at Pt. Arnold and in the observation tower.

See live entertainment in an amphitheater that overlooks San Francisco Bay.

EDUCATIONAL VIEWING TOWER

Explore the Chappell R. Hayes Memorial Observation Tower, named to honor the West Oakland leader. The tower offers fantastic views of the Oakland Estuary and the Port's shipping activities.

INTERPRETIVE SIGNAGE PROGRAM

Take a moment to read the interpretive signs throughout the park for an interesting insight into the history of the site, the environmental resources here and the adjacent maritime activities.

PARK GUIDELINES

PARK HOURS The park is open from 8:00 a.m. to dusk 7 days a week, year around. The park is closed from dusk to dawn except for special events authorized by Park Use Permit.

PARK CLOSURES The park will only be closed to the public during special events. Those are conducted no more than 3 times per year and advance notification is posted.

MOTORIZED VEHICLES - Motorized vehicles may be operated only on designated public access streets and parking lot. A special permit can be obtained for using off road paths for dropping off/setting up heavy materials and picking up.

CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF - Littering is subject to a fine (California Penal Code).

NO COLLECTING - It is unlawful to remove trees, plants, fungi or animals from the park. No collecting within the park.

TRAIL USE - MHSP features both wide and narrow multi-use trails. For safety, vehicles and bicyclists yield to pedestrians.

STAY ON TRAILS - Please protect park soil from erosion and conserve native plants and wildlife by staying on trails.

LEASHED SERVICE DOGS ALLOWED - MHSP does NOT allow dogs within the park. Service Dogs ON-LEASH ONLY are permitted on trails and parkland areas (Oakland Municipal Code).

PICNIC SITES - All picnic tabled areas with bbq pits MUST be reserved.

FIRE USE- No fires within the park, except for charcoal fires on bbq pits. Thoroughly extinguish your fire before leaving the picnic site.

WEAPONS OR FIREWORKS - No weapons or fireworks permitted.

ALCOHOL/GLASS BOTTLES - Alcohol is not permitted in the park unless you have obtained a special permit and the appropriate insurance. For safety reasons, Glass bottles are prohibited within the park. PLEASE NOTE: Hard alcohol is never permitted at MHSP.

SHORELINE WATER AREAS - Swimming, wading and motorized vehicles in the shallow water habitat are prohibited.

DRONES - No drone flying permitted.

SKATEBOARDING - No skateboarding permitted.

VEHICLES - Vehicles left in the park after closing will be towed at the owner's expense.
