Port of Oakland partners pitch in for Lake County fire relief effort

Shipping line, truck and chassis firms get containers to Middletown for supplies

Oakland, CA - September 30, 2015: Three companies working at the Port of Oakland are sending shipping containers to fire-ravaged Lake County today. The eight 40-foot containers will store mountains of relief supplies donated for victims of the devastating Valley Fire.

MOL (America) Inc. is providing the containers. Flexi-Van Leasing of Kenilworth, NJ, has made chassis available to carry the boxes. Drivers from California Multimodal Inc. of Wilmington, Ca. are transporting the containers to Middletown near Northern California's Clear Lake. The equipment is being shipped from locations at or near the Port.

"We're grateful for the support of these companies and pleased that they're helping home and business owners who lost everything in the fires," said Port of Oakland Maritime Director John Driscoll.

The Valley Fire began Sept. 12 in Lake County, two hours north of San Francisco. It has burned more than 76,000 acres and is blamed for four fatalities. Several towns in the county were heavily damaged by the fire. Officials say the blaze is about 98 percent contained.
