OAK Begins 2015 with New Daily Nonstops to Dallas Love Field and Baltimore-Washington on Southwest

Oakland, CA – Jan. 6, 2015 – Oakland International Airport (OAK) adds two cities to its route map today with the commencement by Southwest Airlines of the first-ever daily nonstop flights linking OAK with Dallas Love Field (DAL), and new daily, year-round transcontinental service to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

Southwest Airlines added BWI as a summer-only seasonal service in 2014. Due to the high demand for transcontinental service it has now been added to the schedule as a year-round offering. Baltimore is Southwest’s largest focus city on the East Coast and in addition to excellent access to the capital in Washington DC, it offers air travelers dozens of connecting opportunities to other points in the Northeast corridor and Mid-Atlantic region.

Southwest Airlines is headquartered at Love Field and offers more than 150 peak-day departures from the popular Dallas airport. Travelers using the new nonstop service will find excellent connections at Love Field between the San Francisco Bay Area and points throughout the Southeast, including all of the major destinations in Florida.

“These nonstop flights build on the convenience of Oakland International Airport as a gateway to the San Francisco Bay Area,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Deborah Ale Flint. “Now, travelers to and from Dallas and Baltimore have the convenience of nonstops along with Southwest Airlines’ legendary great fares and customer service. In particular, San Francisco Bay Area travelers will welcome nonstop flights to the brand new terminal at Love Field, and the year-round Baltimore service will help meet the great demand for nonstop transcontinental service from thousands of travelers daily that begin or end their journey across the country in the East Bay.”

Beginning today, Southwest Flight 4295 will depart OAK daily at 11:40 a.m. and arrive at DAL at 4:55 p.m.; Flight 791 will depart DAL daily at 3:00 p.m. and arrive at OAK at 4:55 p.m. (All times local.)

Also starting today, Southwest Flight 1144 will depart OAK daily at 1:00 p.m. and arrive at BWI at 9:00 p.m.; Flight 317 will depart BWI daily at 4:55 p.m. and arrive at OAK at 8:10 p.m.
