All San Francisco Bay Area Ports Closed Today

All San Francisco Bay Area ports including the Port of Oakland are closed today due to a safety stand-down by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU). According to the ILWU, the stand-down has been called in response to the death of a worker who became stricken at the Port of Benicia Nov.19. Full operations are expected to resume at the Port of Oakland tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 21 at 7:00 a.m.

About the Port of Oakland
The Port of Oakland oversees the Oakland seaport and Oakland International Airport. The Port's jurisdiction includes 20 miles of waterfront from the Bay Bridge through Oakland International Airport. Together, through Port operations and those of its tenants and users, the Port supports more than 73,000 jobs in the region and nearly 827,000 jobs across the United States. The Port of Oakland was established in 1927 and is an independent department of the City of Oakland.
