TSA Pre-Check Screening Program Begins October 13th at Oakland International Airport

OAKLAND, CA – October 11, 2013 – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will begin TSA Pre-Check operations at Oakland International Airport (OAK) at the Terminal 1 Checkpoint, beginning October 13.

TSA Pre-Check is a passenger pre-screening initiative that allows qualified passengers to go through an expedited security process, which among other benefits, allows them to keep their shoes and light outerwear on and laptops in their cases while going through the checkpoint. At OAK, the dedicated Pre-Check lane in Terminal 1 will be open during peak hours. During off-peak hours, the TSA will honor Pre-Check members’ status with expedited screening benefits in the regular lanes.

“Oakland International Airport is known for its efficiency and convenience,” said Deborah Ale Flint, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland which owns and operates OAK. “The addition of the TSA Pre-Check screening lane will give OAK Travelers another opportunity to save even more time and enhance the overall airport experience.”

The rollout of TSA Pre-Check at OAK will be limited to Terminal 1 initially, with an anticipated rollout in Terminal 2 by the end of the year.

Select frequent flyers and members of the CBP Global Entry program will now be eligible to participate and may receive expedited screening benefits when flying domestically on participating Pre-Check air carriers. Learn more about the program by visiting www.tsa.gov. To enroll in a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Trusted Traveler program and receive TSA Pre-Check benefits, visit www.globalentry.gov.
