Oakland, Calif. – Sept. 27, 2017: Port of Oakland officials today applauded an Oakland A’s decision to move their headquarters to Jack London Square.  The baseball team announced that it’s moving the front office as part of a plan to build a new downtown ballpark.

The A’s said they could relocate headquarters to Jack London Square from their current home at the Oakland Coliseum as soon as January.  The Square is a centerpiece of the Port of Oakland’s Commercial Real Estate portfolio.  It’s located on Oakland Estuary six miles west of the Coliseum where the team has played for 50 years.

“We’re delighted that two symbols of Oakland are coming together,” said Pamela Kershaw, the Port’s Commercial Real Estate Director. “The city takes great pride in its team and its Port and we’re proud that Jack London Square will be the A’s new headquarters.”

The Port said the A’s would relocate to space in a 6-story office building at the foot of Harrison Street.  It’s the same building occupied by the administrative offices of Sunset Magazine.

Early this year the A’s examined a Port of Oakland marine terminal as a potential ballpark site.  The team has since announced plans to build a stadium near Laney College, one mile from Jack London Square.
