December 18th, 2020

Oakland, Calif. – December 18, 2020:  November 2020 passenger traffic at Oakland International Airport (OAK) declined 3.2 percent from October 2020. Amidst travel warnings and calls by health and government officials to cancel travel plans as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, 11,525 fewer passengers used the airport than did in October. This represents a 67 percent decline from November 2019 levels. OAK's cargo business remained robust, up 9 percent in November 2020 compared with November 2019.  OAK is the top San Francisco Bay Area airport measured by air cargo traffic and the second busiest airport in the region for passenger traffic.

"Through tireless efforts from our entire OAK team, the airport continues to provide an inviting and comfortable environment for all customers with an essential need for air travel," said Bryant L. Francis, Port of Oakland Director of Aviation. "We all look forward to the New Year and the expectations of better and safer times that it will bring."
