Jack London Square hosts five free events in four days

Thousands of visitors expected to come to the waterfront for new experiences

Oakland, Calif. – August 1, 2018: Thousands of visitors will come to Jack London Square during one of its busiest summer weekends, with five events in four days beginning Thursday.

Here’s a rundown of the series of events:

  • Thursday night, Waterfront Flicks features “Bridesmaids” on the Jack London Square Ferry Lawn beginning at sundown;
  • Friday night’s Dancing Under the Stars’ outdoor show will feature a dance lesson and party from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.;
  • Saturday, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Taste of Oakland festival will feature live music, cooking demos, family-friendly activities and food and beverages available for purchase;
  • Sunday, Farmer’s Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and The Buck from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., includes an assortment of food and an array of local-maker vendors.

For Thursday night’s movie, families and visitors can stake out their spots with folding chairs and blankets before the sun sets. Professional dance instructors welcome all ages for the Friday night dance lesson at 8 p.m. Saturday’s Taste of Oakland brings together iconic musicians and culinary talents. Wrapping up this jam-packed weekend along the Oakland waterfront, The Buck and Farmer’s Market will showcase fresh produce, jewelry and unique clothing.

Transportation options to the Square include the Alameda/SF Bay Ferry, Amtrak, biking, walking and driving. The free “B” Broadway shuttle runs Monday thru Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The shuttle will take you anywhere from Uptown Oakland to Jack London Square and back.  For directions to the Oakland waterfront, please go here.
