Jack London Square to host community Cinco de Mayo Festival

A celebration of Mexican heritage with cultural music and dance performances

Oakland, Calif. – May 2, 2019: A celebration of Mexican heritage will bring the community together at Jack London Square for Cinco de Mayo, Saturday, from noon to 7 p.m. The free event offers a wide variety of performers from kids to adults in recognition of Mexican traditions and its diverse culture.

The Cinco de Mayo Festival will feature Folklorico dancing and traditional Aztec dancing from In Lak'ech Danza Azteca. Latin-American cultural traditions will also be a part of this event with low-rider cars, dancing horses, and wrestling.

Mercado Latinx is the Bay Area's first market showcasing Latinx artists, foodies, designers, creators, crafters, builders and dreamers. These vendors will offer art, food, drink and local-maker goods.

Oakland Unified School District students will perform and there will be family-friendly activities for all ages.
