Fly in good health, Fly the East Bay Way - but don't forget your mask

Press Releases, Airport, Community
June 15th, 2021

Oakland, Calif. – June 15, 2021: Oakland International Airport (OAK) welcomes the news that the State of California has progressed away from most COVID-19-related restrictions, including wearing a mask in public. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to reduce the spread of the virus, the Presidential Executive Order issued January 21, 2021 requires masks to be worn in airports and on commercial aircraft.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) consistent with the order and TSA's authority, directs masks continue to be worn to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 during air travel and at the airport. The requirements in this directive apply to all individuals, including those already vaccinated.

In accordance with the directive, officials at OAK, the Alameda County Sheriff and the airlines operating at the airport will enforce the rule. The airport requests that everyone travel responsibly and follow the rules.
