“90s Experience” opens today in Jack London Square

Interactive exhibit kicks off weekend events at waterfront

Oakland, Calif. – July 12, 2019: The 90’s Experience”, a new interactive museum, celebrates the iconic music, fashion and pop culture of the years from 1990 to 1999. The exhibit opens to the public today in Jack London Square at 54 Washington St. Guests can take photos in front of the 90’s backdrops while seeing, smelling, tasting, touching, and hearing standouts from the decade. For details or tickets, visit experiencethe90s.com. Part of the proceeds from this exhibit will go to a local non-profit.

Tickets can only be purchased online for a specific timed entry. The “90s Experience” is between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. today and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

The “90s experience” highlights a full weekend of events expected to draw thousands of visitors to the waterfront. “Live on the Square” is every Friday night during the summer months. This family-friendly, free community event attracts locals and Bay Area residents for an Oakland outing.

Here’s the “Live on the Square” schedule of activities:

6 – 11 p.m.       DJ plays music at Franklin St. (between restaurants Forge & Plank)

7:30 – 8 p.m.    Pre-show DJ music on the Broadway Stage (foot of Broadway)

8 - 8:15 p.m.     Dance performance (Broadway Stage)

8:15 – 9 p.m.    Dance instruction

9 – 11 p.m.       Public dance party

Second Saturday, the monthly block party at Jack London Square, returns tomorrow with up to 50 vendors, live entertainment and food from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Every Sunday is Farmer’s Market at the Square between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Market customers connect directly with farmers and sellers offering fruits, vegetables, specialty foods and more. Free cooking demos are also part of the market.

Transportation options to the Square include the Alameda/SF Bay Ferry, Amtrak, biking, walking and driving. The free “B” Broadway shuttle runs Monday thru Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. For directions to the Oakland waterfront and parking information, please go here.
