Airline takes Bay Area residents to Utah’s third largest city

Oakland, CA. (March 20, 2013) – The Allegiant Travel Company announced new nonstop service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) beginning on June 7, 2013. Known for its exceptional travel deals, Allegiant will offer introductory fares as low as $59.99 one-way between the two cities. Flights will depart OAK on Monday and Friday at 7:30am and arrive at PVU at 10:10am. Return flights depart PVU on Friday and Monday at 10:50am and arrive at OAK at 11:40am. Flights can be booked at allegiant.com.

“Bay Area travelers have another great option to access the outdoor adventures Utah has to offer,” said Kristi McKenney, Acting Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland which owns and operates OAK. “This is the first new route of 2013 for OAK. We appreciate Allegiant’s expansion of their service at OAK and the influx of travelers they bring to San Francisco Bay Area.”

In 2012, over 550,000 travelers flew between the Bay Area and Utah, and this new service is expected to add to the interest.

“We are pleased to announce a new affordable and convenient travel option for the residents of Provo,” said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President. “We are confident area residents will appreciate the convenience of flying nonstop to the San Francisco Bay area and the value of bundling their air, hotel and car rental reservations together.”

Best known as the home of Brigham Young University (BYU), Provo was ranked #1 in 2012 on Forbes Magazine’s Best Places for Business and Careers list.

During the summer months, Provo offers a variety of outdoor activities. Just a short drive from downtown Provo is Utah Lake State Park where visitors have the opportunity to fish, canoe, or jetski on Utah’s largest freshwater lake. To the north is Mt Timpanogos, a perfect destination for hiking and cave tours.
