Allegiant Announces New Nonstop, Low-Cost Flights Between Palm Springs And Oakland International Airport
Exclusive New Route Added by Popular Demand
Oakland, CA — August 21, 2012 — Allegiant Air today announced new nonstop service between Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) beginning Nov. 15, 2012.
The new flights will operate twice weekly between PSP and OAK. Flight days and times can be found at allegiant.com.
More nonstop service on the popular route between Palm Springs and the San Francisco Bay Area is important for residents of both regions. The new service offered by Allegiant is the first nonstop from the centrally-located OAK in the East Bay to Palm Springs.
“We are excited to expand our service in the Bay Area with convenient, nonstop service between Oakland and Palm Springs,” said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant President. “We’re looking forward to expanding Allegiant Travel Company’s brand of affordable travel in these markets and for residents in both areas to take advantage of booking hotel rooms, car rentals and attractions through us.”
“Low-cost Allegiant’s new nonstop flights between the East Bay and Palm Springs are so very welcome and in demand by vacationers residing in both areas,” said Deborah Ale Flint, Aviation Director for the Port of Oakland which owns and operates OAK. “Palm Springs is one of the destinations that our customers have sought from Oakland, and we’re thrilled that Allegiant is responding to the demand. This new service is a significant development for tourism in the San Francisco Bay Area and Southern California desert as travelers have access to numerous travel products offered by Allegiant Travel Company.”
Allegiant also provides nonstop service between OAK and:
- Bellingham, Washington (a US gateway to Vancouver, British Columbia);
- Eugene, Oregon;
- Idaho Falls, Idaho;
- Montana (Billings, Bozeman, Kalispell and Missoula); and
- Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona.
Reservations may be made through the company’s website at allegiant.com or by calling Allegiant’s travel experts at 702-505-8888.
OAK is growing with more seats and new markets as airlines continue to add both domestic and international service to in demand markets.
Allegiant continued its expansion at Oakland International and established a base at the airport in April 2012. The airline bases two 166-passenger MD-80 aircraft to support its growing operation at OAK. The airline also has created jobs for approximately 60 people, including flight attendants, pilots, mechanics, and airport service personnel, which is in alignment with the Port’s strategic plan.
The airline moved its flight operations to OAK from San Francisco International Airport in 2009 citing the East Bay airport’s lower operating costs, accessibility to downtown San Francisco tourist attractions, and on-time reliability.
