Oakland, Calif. – April 19, 2018: Oakland Dance Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary at Jack London Square with two days of free performances by professionals and amateurs April 28 and 29. The festival is free and open to the public. This family friendly event showcases a variety of dance genres including hip-hop, jazz, and modern.

“The festival is a wonderful way to bring people from all walks of life together through the multicultural experience of dance,” said Dance-A-Vision founder and event organizer Carla Service. ”We’ve set aside Sunday to focus on the children who want to share their dance talent with the public at beautiful Jack London Square.”

Local dancers, choreographers and teachers are set to perform at the Oakland waterfront. The Oakland Dance Festival also features workshops and master classes.

On Saturday, April 28, the event begins at noon with 30-minute free dance classes until 2 p.m. followed by a variety of dance performances ending at 6 p.m. The celebration concludes with an outdoor D.J. dance party open to all from 6 – 8 p.m.

Sunday begins with Oaktown Jazz from 12 to 1 p.m. Dance performances with a youth focus are scheduled from 1 to 4:30 p.m. An open dance party comes after the program and continues until 6 p.m.
