Legendary Bay Area journalist to travel the world from Oakland International Airport

Oakland, Calif. – April 27, 2018: Oakland International Airport has signed an agreement with longtime TV personality, Roberta Gonzales, to produce travel shows featuring OAK’s newest domestic and international destinations beginning May 19th. Gonzales will bring her well-known wit and charisma back into Bay Area living rooms via her brand new television series, “Where’s Roberta.”

The show, which Gonzales terms, “travel entertainment,” combines the journalist’s penchant for fun and exciting reporting and her love for travel. Episodes are filmed remotely in destinations all over the US and abroad that are now accessible nonstop from Oakland.

Just five years ago, OAK’s international portfolio included only select cities in Mexico via Volaris Airlines. In 2013, Norwegian Air Shuttle arrived in Oakland, introducing service to Scandinavia. Since then, Norwegian has launched nonstop service to all three Scandinavian capitals (Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen), London, Barcelona, Rome and, as of this month, Paris. With a full slate of major world capitals available nonstop, Oakland has become a recognizable and convenient international gateway, attracting legacy carrier British Airways, aviation new-comer LEVEL, and major domestic and international expansion by Southwest.

Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, Bryant L. Francis said, “Oakland continues to see growing numbers of passengers served and destinations offered. We’re very pleased to now partner with Roberta Gonzales, whom we’ve watched and respected during her tenure with KPIX. We’re delighted to now have the opportunity to work with her in this capacity.”

The show’s Creator and Host, Roberta Gonzales notes, “It is an incredible honor and privilege to work hand-in-hand with Oakland International Airport. This is the project I have been working on for numerous years and now a dream come true! It’s a perfect partnership considering that I only “Fly the East Bay Way!” I truly feel blessed to have this opportunity to hopefully bring smiles and laughter to television through my new and exciting travel entertainment show.”

Oakland International is scheduled to be featured on “Where’s Roberta” every other week beginning May 19th at 7:30PM. Arriving nonstop from Oakland in each episode, Gonzales will take viewers around San Antonio, Orlando, Lihue (Hawaii), Rome, and London, all with her characteristic panache and flair.

Gonzales, a beloved and familiar face on the Bay Area’s CBS affiliate, KPIX, left the newsroom late last year to pursue her own production company.
