Jack London Square’s holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony is Friday

Oakland, CA – Nov. 21, 2019: Jack London Square lights up for the holidays with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The event includes the lighting of a real, 55-foot white fir tree adorned with thousands of lights and hundreds of ornaments at 6:30.

The public festivities begin at 5 p.m. with holiday treats and beverages available for purchase. Free entertainment includes:

Celebrity performance troupe Tap-Dancing Christmas Trees,
Black Santa and Mrs. C,
Stomper (Oakland A’s mascot),
Walk-about characters,
Dance-a-Vision’s Carla Service,
Destined 2 Dance,
Some Day Sweethearts,
Oakland School of the Arts’ group “One Voice”,
Free, holiday-themed photo booth from Port of Oakland,
USPS Letters to Santa,
Holiday pop-up shops, andDance party with local icon DJ Page Hodel and sound by Curtis Maxwell.

Jack London Square will host a donation drive to collect non-perishable foods, unwrapped toys and gently worn coats for Alameda County Food Bank, the 40th Annual Community Toy Drive organized by Mayor Libby Schaaf and One Warm Coat.

Event sponsors are KTVU, ZICO Water, Port of Oakland and nonprofit and community partners Falck Ambulance, Emergency Service Provider for Alameda County, Alameda County Community Food Bank, Oakland Fire Department, and One Warm Coat.

Transportation options to the Square include Alameda/SF Bay Ferry, Amtrak, biking, walking, driving and the free “B” Broadway shuttle that runs weekdays, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. For directions to the Oakland waterfront, please go here.
