Oakland, Calif. – July 20, 2017: The seventh annual Pedalfest comes to Jack London Square, Saturday, 11 AM to 6 PM. Pedalfest organizers expect the event to draw more than 20,000 biking enthusiasts to the Oakland waterfront.
The Bay Area’s premier bicycle event is free and open to the public, with food and beverage available for purchase. All ages are welcome and families are encouraged to attend. Any proceeds will benefit Bike East Bay, a local non-profit organization.
Activities are designed for experienced cyclists as well as those new to bicycling. Festivalgoers can enjoy bicycle-themed entertainment, food, live music and displays, including vintage and hand-built bikes to high-end customized bicycles.
“We’re excited to have the seventh annual Pedalfest in Jack London Square,” said Pamela Kershaw, Port of Oakland Director of Commercial Real Estate. “This is a free, fun event at the Oakland waterfront that can be enjoyed by the whole family.”
Professional stunt riders will showcase bicycle balancing and agility through an obstacle course. There will be pedal-powered carnival rides and an amphibious bike race.
Walk Oakland Bike Oakland and the Original Scrapper Bike Team will host a station where children can decorate their bikes with spoke cards, stickers, and streamers at 11 AM followed by the Kids Bicycle Parade through Jack London Square at Noon, July 22.
Visitors curious about electric bikes can see the latest in bicycle technology. Riders must be at least 18 years of age to try a variety of e-bikes on the e-bike test track located inside the Jack London Market building.
