Jack London Square events to draw thousands of visitors

Oakland, Calif. – June 18, 2019: Thousands of visitors will come to Jack London Square between Thursday and Sunday to take in Oakland’s culture at the waterfront. Four free events focus on music, dance, or food in a festival setting.

Here’s a rundown of the activities:

– Thursday night, MUSH music concert, 6:30 – 9 P.M.
– Friday night, Live on the Square, 6 – 11 p.m.; free dance lesson and party, 8 – 10 p.m.
– Saturday, TURFinc 4th Annual Dance Battle, noon – 7 p.m.
– Sunday, Sweet Sunday, farmers market, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

“Jack London Square is a wonderful setting for community events at the waterfront,” said Port of Oakland Director of Commercial Real Estate Pam Kershaw. “These activities take advantage of our good weather and make it easy for friends and families to be outdoors and experience the beauty of Oakland.”

MUSH, a concert series presented by BFF.fm., will be held on the  Marina Lawn (across from 55 Harrison St.) at Jack London Square. This free music festival features Oakland artists from the local Indie music scene. MUSH includes grab-and-go food specials from local restaurants, a beer and wine bar and Bay Area underground artists and crafters selling their wares. This week’s lineup includes Cave Clove and Chaki.

Live on the Square is the expanded version of the Dancing Under the Stars summer series. It’s now a free festival every Friday night offering entertainment, food and fun in addition to the weekly dance lesson and party.

TURFinc is presenting its 4th Annual Dance Battle festival at the Oakland waterfront. This is a free event on Saturday. TURFinc brought you the first Dance Battle Cinco De Mayo festival at Jack London Square where more than 10,000 visitors came to enjoy the competition.

Sweet Sunday is the Jack London Square farmers market operated by CUESA every Sunday, year-round, rain or shine. Founded in 1989, the Jack London Square farmers market has deep roots in Oakland. It provides a vibrant waterfront marketplace for Bay Area families.

There are more than 55 free public events throughout the year at Jack London Square, which is kid and pet friendly.

Transportation options to the Square include the Alameda/SF Bay Ferry, Amtrak, biking, walking and driving. The free “B” Broadway shuttle runs Monday thru Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. For directions to the Oakland waterfront and parking information, please go here.
