Oakland International Grows 10.2% in February 2016
AIRPORT PASSENGER GAINS CONTINUE UPWARD TREND
Oakland, CA - March 24, 2016: Oakland International Airport (OAK) reports a 10.2% increase in February passenger traffic to add to its continued growth trend. Now counting 27 months of year-over-year growth, the month of February served 805,109 passengers at the airport, including on Leap Day.
Airline seat capacity, at 1,083,078 seats, was up 11.2 percent from last year, with passenger demand continuing to absorb increases in seat availability.
Reports also include a less than 1% reduction in load factor with 74.3% of all seats occupied.
"We are very pleased to see continued growth and are working hard to ensure that Oakland is the airport of choice for travelers both to and from the Bay Area," said Acting Director of Aviation, Kristi McKenney. "Norwegian introduces service between Oakland and London-Gatwick in May, and Southwest expands service to Reno-Tahoe and St. Louis in June. We look forward to seeing these and other exciting developments add to the upward trend."
