Oakland International Airport ready for a busy, smooth Independence Day weekend

Press Releases, Airport, Community
July 2nd, 2021

Oakland, Calif. – July 2, 2021: Operations at Oakland International Airport (OAK) are running smoothly and the airport is prepared to serve passengers for the upcoming holiday weekend.

With travel restrictions being lifted and demand for travel on the rise, OAK anticipates that passenger volumes between Thursday, July 1 and Monday, July 5 will reach 160,000, which is three times the number of passengers served during Independence Day weekend 2020.

As of Thursday, July 1, 2021, flights scheduled at OAK are currently at a 100 percent completion rate--meaning no cancellations exist on the schedule at this time. OAK’s daily schedule of up to 234 daily flights and real-time flight status information may be found here.

Plenty of parking spaces are available for passenger use in the Premier, Daily, and Economy parking lots. Retail and restaurant locations at the airport are also open and ready to serve travelers, and their current hours of operation are posted here.

OAK advises travelers to check with their airline on the airline website or app, sign up for flight alert text messages and plan ahead to arrive early for their flight.

Remember, U.S. federal regulations still require face coverings at all times at the airport and while on the aircraft.
