As intra-Cal flights return to full schedules, two noted travel experts have accepted the challenge to Fly the East Bay Way within California

Press Releases, Airport
April 8th, 2022

Oakland, Calif. – April 8, 2022: Oakland International Airport signals that intrastate flights within California are back in full force by hosting a unique Oakland California Corridor Challenge (#OAKCCC). Noted travel experts Henry Harteveldt of Atmosphere Research and Brett Snyder, renowned as the Cranky Flier, will take to the skies in the Golden State on April 12th. The duo will fly as many segments as they can during a 72-hour period aboard the frequent shuttle type flights between OAK and the 5 LA area airports (LAX, BUR, LGB, SNA, ONT) plus San Diego and, as a bonus, OAK’s unique “Redwoods Express” northbound to Crescent City. The challenge includes opportunities to fly the five “intra-Cal” carriers including Contour, Delta, JSX, Southwest, and Spirit.

These avid flyers will begin their challenge on the morning of April 12th arriving at the Oakland International Airport BART station to catch their first southbound flight to San Diego. After the challenge begins, the team of two will share their experiences via their various social media accounts across multiple channels. The travelling public throughout California is invited to participate in the discussion and engage with the posts.

“The airlines here at OAK offer frequent and easy to use nonstop service between OAK and Southern California over 100 times per day,” said Bryant L. Francis, Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “When you Fly the East Bay Way to SoCal, there are many great airline options to choose from at competitive prices. We encourage everyone to once again ‘fly the corridor’ from OAK and do so, like Henry and Brett, as often as they can.”
