Oakland, CA – September 15, 2015: For three straight days this weekend, Port of Oakland’s Jack London Square will transform into an epic playground of delicious eats – the annual Eat Real Festival. More than 125,000 visitors are expected to attend the event beginning Friday, Sept. 18 through Sunday, Sept. 20.

The free event celebrates fresh and handmade food with a focus on local, organic and sustainable ingredients. This will be the seventh year of the food festival in Jack London Square. You can see the video highlighting the upcoming event here.

Eat Real combines a state fair atmosphere with a food extravaganza. There will be live food demos with local celebrity chefs, more than 70 food trucks, carts and booths, and live music. The festival features Do It Yourself demonstrations, hands-on classes and the popular butchery showdown where festival goers can see how food is broken down.

There is a Kids’’ Zone where youngsters learn about food preparation. In addition to being a sponsor of the Festival, the Port of Oakland will also sponsor the makers table Sunday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to build a shipping crane model while learning how the Port is a gateway for importing and exporting food. This is the biggest free event that the Port of Oakland and its Jack London Square Partners sponsor during the year.

Eat Real Festival schedule:
Friday, September 18, 1:00pm – 9:00pm
Saturday, September 19, 10:30am – 9:00pm
Sunday, September 20, 10:30am – 5:00pm
