Oakland, Calif. – September 1, 2020: Oakland International Airport (OAK) announces that Spirit Airlines will commence service between OAK and Orange County’s John Wayne Airport (SNA) beginning Nov. 17 with two daily nonstop flights. Orange County Airport is the best option for those visiting Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Irvine and Anaheim.

Spirit Airlines has served OAK since 2011 and currently offers year-round nonstop service from OAK to both Las Vegas (LAS), and Los Angeles (LAX), as well as summer seasonal service to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Detroit Metro (DTW) and Houston Bush (IAH). As an ultra-low cost carrier, Spirit is known for offering an “ala carte” range of options available for purchase beyond the basic airfare such as the $9 Fare Club, assigned seats, early boarding, carry-on and checked baggage, onboard snacks and beverages, and - a Bay Area favorite - the “Big Front Seat”. The carrier operates a modern fleet of Airbus A319/320/321 aircraft, among the youngest and most fuel-efficient in the U.S., painted bright yellow highlighting the commitment to offer the best value in the sky.

“Oakland International is the main airport for the greater East Bay, the most populated area in the metropolitan San Francisco Bay Region,” says Bryant L. Francis, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland. “Residents of the Golden State are very familiar with the convenience and reliability that both OAK and Orange County Airport represent and it is wonderful that Spirit Airlines will provide travelers even more choices when they fly the ‘California Corridor’ on this highly popular route.”

“We are excited to bring more low-cost options to our California guests with new service between OAK and Orange County,” said John Kirby, Spirit Airline’s Vice President of Network Planning. “Whether it’s a trip for business or pleasure, guests will love our low fares, signature service and on-time performance.”
