Port of Oakland’s Free Harbor Tours – 2026 Season

Tickets available June 2 at 8 PM for the June 12th tour, which runs every month through October 2026

Oakland, Calif. – June 2, 2026: This week, the Port of Oakland will offer its popular free harbor tours to the public from June to October 2026. The narrated 90-minute boat tour is a unique opportunity to see and learn about the Port’s shipping operations up close while enjoying a sunset cruise along the Oakland Estuary and San Francisco Bay.

“These tours present a great opportunity for local residents to better understand the Port’s dynamic role in the regional economy,” said Port of Oakland Chief Public Engagement Officer Matt Davis. “Seeing the iconic cranes and massive ships up close provides a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the Port as seen from the water. It brings to life just a few of the nearly 100,000 local jobs that the Port supports locally.”

Tickets for the next harbor tour of the season are available online June 2 at 8 PM, and will set sail on Friday, June 12 at 6:45 p.m. Tickets for the following harbor tours will become available two weeks before the specific date at 8 PM. The tickets are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Those who do not pre-register may walk in and place their name on the standby list.

Port staff will provide a live, 90-minute narrated tour that offers educational background about Port history, operations, and the Port’s clean-and-green plan for zero-emissions.

The cruise departs from the Oakland Ferry Terminal located at the foot of Clay Street in Jack London Square, one Friday evening each month (see schedule below).

The tours have become so popular that the free tickets often run out within the first few minutes of the online registration going live, so be sure to register promptly at 8:00 p.m. Each tour accommodates approximately 250 passengers.
