Seaport
Navigating the Seas of Change.
Since our founding in 1927 the Seaport has served as the principle ocean gateway for international containerized cargo shipments in Northern California. As a Top 10 Port in the United States, the Oakland Seaport loads and discharges 99% of all containerized goods in Northern California, the nation's fourth largest metropolitan area.
Our proximity to Napa Valley, Silicon Valley, and the Central Valley makes us the Seaport for California’s leading industries.
Service to our customer and community always come first. The Seaport anticipates market needs and works closely with customer and community to develop infrastructure to meet trade demands and sustain our community.
There are many projects taking place at the Oakland Seaport. The former Oakland Army Base is being redeveloped into a 380-acre Seaport Logistics Complex; creating local jobs, providing state-of-the-art rail, warehousing, and transloading facilities to better serve our customers, both big and small. This complex will serve as an incubator for innovative sustainability projects.
