Director of IT
As Director of Information Technology, Kevin Fong oversees the planning, operation and support of the IT business systems and infrastructure for the Port's three business lines: Maritime, Aviation and Commercial Real Estate. He is responsible for enabling the Port to carry out its business efficiently, productively and securely.
Prior to joining the Port of Oakland, Mr. Fong worked as the IT Director of University Development and Alumni Relations at the University of California, Berkeley where he built an ecosystem of information delivery and database management systems in support of a successful $3 billion campaign. Prior to that, he worked at the Office of the President for the University of California where he earned awards and accolades for his leadership in delivery of an employee self-service portal serving all UC campuses. He has also held various senior management positions in the private sector from companies including Kaiser, Lucent, Metricom, Polycom and Sega.
Mr. Fong holds a bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley. He is actively involved in serving the public as a reserve police officer with the City of Berkeley, California. He also volunteers his time maintaining the website for the Northern California Asian Peace Officers Association and he is fluent in Norwegian.
