About Steel Rail Café:
Steel rails have played an important role in Oakland since the late 1800's when west Oakland became the ending point of the Transcontinental Railroad. These rails ensured that goods and services were delivered into the heart of the community, bringing with them growth and opportunity. The workers along the rail ways helped shape our local community and our nation. Steel Rail is a café that honors Oakland's storied past and celebrates the people of Oakland in the heart of Jack London Square. We created Steel Rail as a welcome place for the entire community, to eat, drink, share and unwind. Steel Rail celebrates the spirit of Oakland. Fresh. Local. Oakland.
