Port of Oakland searching nationwide for Aviation Director

Autumn target date for naming exec to run Oakland International Airport

Oakland, CA - July 31, 2015: A nationwide job search is underway for the Port of Oakland’s next Aviation Director. The job: manage the Port’s Oakland International Airport, second largest airport in Northern California.

The Port said today it has engaged executive recruitment specialist SpencerStuart to lead the aviation search. It set an autumn target date for naming a new airport boss.

“This is a critically important hire because Oakland International Airport is a cornerstone for the region’s future,” said Port Executive Director Chris Lytle. “We’re looking for a dynamic leader to help us continue on our growth path.”

A new Aviation Director would replace Deborah Ale Flint who left Oakland for a similar job in Los Angeles. The successor will inherit an airport that reached two milestones in the past year:
--surpassing 10 million annual passengers in 2014; and
--expanding to a record 49 domestic travel destinations in 2015.

Passenger traffic grew 6.15 percent at Oakland International Airport last year. The airport had a 55 percent market share for Bay Area air freight. Oakland International Airport operates more than 300 passenger flights and more than 50 cargo flights daily.

In addition to running the airport, the Aviation Director would become part of the Port’s management team. The team oversees the Port’s three business lines, Aviation, Maritime and Commercial Real Estate including Jack London Square.
