Allegiant Announces New Nonstop Flights Between Oakland and Reno-Tahoe with $39.99 Fares

Flights Timed for Weekend Getaways

Oakland, Calif. – July 16, 2013 – The Allegiant Travel Company announced new nonstop service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) beginning on August 30, 2013. Known for its exceptional travel deals, Allegiant will offer introductory fares as low as $39.99 one-way.

“We are extremely pleased that Allegiant has increased their service at OAK to include nonstop service to Reno-Tahoe,” said Kristi McKenney, Acting Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland which owns and operates OAK. “With Allegiant’s new service and low fares, Bay Area residents now have a convenient option to enjoy all of the entertainment options and diverse outdoor activities the Reno-Tahoe area has to offer every season of the year. Anyone who has experienced heavy traffic driving between Reno and the Bay Area will truly appreciate having the option to fly Allegiant instead.”

The new flights will operate twice weekly between Oakland and Reno-Tahoe. Flight days and times can be found at allegiant.com.

"We are pleased to bring another affordable and convenient travel option to the residents of the Bay Area," said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President. "We are confident the community will appreciate the convenience of flying nonstop to Reno-Tahoe and the value of bundling their air, hotel and car rental reservation together."

From luxurious hotels, thrilling casinos and a rich arts community in Reno to the world-class ski resorts, scenic recreation areas and crystal blue waters of Lake Tahoe, the Reno-Tahoe area has something to offer visitors year-round. The Reno-Tahoe area has long been a favorite getaway for Bay Area residents who can now choose a quick flight instead of spending precious hours sitting in I-80 traffic.

With the addition of Reno-Tahoe, Allegiant will serve a total of 8 cities with nonstop service in and out of OAK. When Allegiant begins service on August 30th, it will operate 164-passenger MD-80 series jets and will be the only air carrier offering nonstop flights between Oakland and Reno. Southwest Airlines ended service between the two cities in June.
