Allegiant Air Announces New Low-Cost, Nonstop Service Between Oakland International Airport and Eugene, Oregon

First-Time Ever Service from Oak; Two Weekly Flights

Oakland, Calif. (Apr. 14, 2009) — Las Vegas-based airline, Allegiant Air, recently announced plans to offer low-cost, nonstop service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Eugene Airport (EUG) beginning June 8, 2009. This important new service marks the first-ever nonstop flights between OAK and Eugene, the second largest city in the state of Oregon.

"We are pleased that Allegiant Air plans to continue growing in Oakland," said Steve Grossman, director of aviation for the Port of Oakland, which owns and operates OAK. "Now, travelers have a convenient link between the San Francisco Bay Area and Eugene, a key gateway to Oregon, and the growing Pacific Northwest region. These flights will have a positive impact on tourism-related industries."

Allegiant uses 150-seat MD-80 jet aircraft. The approximate 85-minute flights will operate twice weekly with service on Monday and Friday. Flights will operate as follows:

Allegiant also offers flights between OAK and Bellingham International Airport (BLI) in Northwest Washington, a gateway to British Columbia, Canada, with two weekly flights. The airline plans to offer three weekly flights by May and four weekly flights by June in this market.
The low-cost carrier moved its flight operations to OAK from San Francisco International Airport in February 2009, citing the East Bay airport’s lower operating costs, accessibility to downtown San Francisco, and on-time reliability.
