Norwegian adds Boeing 787 nonstop service to Barcelona at OAK

Oakland now a top California gateway to Europe

Press Releases, Airport
June 7th, 2017

Oakland, CA – (June 7, 2017): Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian) launch a major expansion from the increasingly popular San Francisco Bay Area airport today. Norwegian will launch its award winning Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights from OAK to the Catalonian capital, Barcelona, Spain.

Barcelona has been one of the largest and most requested destinations in Europe from the Bay Area. This service on Norwegian at OAK joins the airline’s existing service to Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen – the "triple crown" of the largest Scandinavian capitals, each offered from the Bay Area exclusively at OAK. Norwegian also began nonstop service to London-Gatwick in May 2016.

Oakland is now the third-largest California gateway to Europe. Norwegian, by offering nonstop service to more destinations than any other airline, becomes the Bay Area's top choice to Europe.

"Norwegian has been an excellent partner, and we're proud to serve as its Bay Area gateway," said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, Bryant L. Francis. "It offers our residents more nonstop European destinations than any other airline, serving as a key contributor to the ongoing growth the Airport is experiencing."

Seats are available at Norwegian.com. The lowest fares are subject to availability.

Norwegian will initially operate its Oakland-Barcelona flights twice weekly, increasing to three times weekly in August 2017.
