Oakland, Calif. – August 1, 2017: Jack London Square packs a punch this week with three special events beginning Wednesday. Party Under the Palms is tomorrow from 5:30-8:00PM at Embarcadero and Webster Streets. This is the first event of its kind at the Square featuring creative drinks and small bites made from peak-season produce.

All proceeds from the ticketed event support CUESA’s (Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture) healthy food and agriculture education initiatives and the USBG’s (United States Bartenders Guild) professional development programs.

Thursday night’s Waterfront Flicks features the film Selena at sundown on the Ferry Lawn near the foot of Clay Street. Sponsored by the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the event begins with pre-film festivities including small eats, trivia and giveaways. Moviegoers should arrive early and are encouraged to bring blankets for comfort.

Friday, the free Dancing Under the Stars lesson features Merengue, an easy-to-learn partner dance from the Dominican Republic. The lesson begins at 8:30 PM followed by a mixed-music dance party from 9-10 PM. Each Friday night, Jack London Square hosts a different dance theme including the East Coast Swing, Zouk and Salsa with professional dance instructor Bradley Montoya. All ages and all levels of dancers are welcome to attend this free community event.

Please note: Wed., Aug 2, Party Under the Palms; Thurs., Aug. 3, Waterfront Flicks; Fri., Aug. 4, Dancing Under the Stars. Jack London Square hosts more than 55 free public events throughout the year.
