OAK designated
- Official Airport of Cal Athletics
Oakland International
Airport and IMG Cal Athletics have embarked upon a 5-year partnership
wherein OAK carries the designation "Official Airport of Cal
Athletics". The initial phases were rolled out during football
season as Cal Memorial Stadium reopened this fall and basketball season
had just begun at Cal's Haas Pavilion. Cal generates more than 250,000
air journeys per year. OAK and Cal Athletics look forward to even more
developments in the months and years ahead.

The Port promoted
California wine exports through Oakland to Asia at the Nov.
2012 Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair. Check out this video which highlights a
growing interest across the Pacific in CA wines.

Coastal
Cleanup Day at Jack London Square
More than 100 volunteers
including Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts armed with rubber gloves, trash bags
and plenty of enthusiasm, scoured the shoreline at Jack London Square
for marine debris on California Coastal Cleanup Day, Sat., Sept. 15,
2012. They picked up 500 pounds of trash! Coastal Cleanup Press Release
The next one will be
scheduled around the week of Earth Day (April 22, 2013). To volunteer

Thank you Matson!
A huge "thank
you" goes to Port of Oakland maritime shipping business partner -
Matson! The company made community service a big part of its annual
company picnic at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park. Matson employees
participated in the Port's fall Coastal Cleanup Day and picked up trash
along the shoreline making it more pristine for all the park's people
and wildlife visitors!

Powering Jobs
Above:
Len Tomberlin, a National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA)
union plumber for more than 20 years, worked on
the construction of the new air Traffic Control Tower project at OAK.
This project is funded entirely by a federal grant from The
American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA - also known as The
Stimulus Act). About 300 people were put to work building this
environmentally friendly tower, which will better serve the airport,
our passengers and our community when completed.
