December 14, 2001 Port of Oakland Sets Date for Pan Pacific 2002
The Port of Oakland has set October 15 and 16, 2002 at the Oakland Marriott City Center to host the international Pan Pacific 2002 Conference with the theme "Building Bridges to the Future". The Pan Pacific Conference was founded in 1972 by the ports of Oakland, Dalian, Melbourne, Shanghai, Yokohama, and Vancouver to promote international trade and the technologies of cargo transportation. It is held every two years, rotating among the Founding Ports. The Conference was last held in Oakland in 1992, and was held in Melbourne in 2000.
The two-day event is open to all, and will feature presentations by a variety of international experts on topics of interest including port security, crane and terminal technologies, international trade trends, and site tours on Oakland's extensive Vision 2000 projects.
