The Port of Oakland Board of Port
Commissioners approved an agreement whereby Jack London Square Partners
will work with the Community, City and Port to preserve and improve
Jack London Square. The Agreement includes:
- A requirement that all planning must occur
within the City and Port of Oakland's 1999 Estuary Plan.
- This is a public-private partnership--the
Port and the City are both partners in the project.
- JLS Partners will obtain long-term leases
for five parcels currently within the Port's jurisdiction.
- All plans are subject to state environmental
requirements as set forth in the California Environmental Quality
Act (CEQA)
- The City of Oakland, Bay Conservation
Development Commission (BCDC), and other public bodies must provide
approvals of the project.
- JLS Partners will comply with Port of
Oakland Local and Small Business Participation policies, as well
as Prevailing Wage requirements.

open space, and view corridors
- Transit and pathway links with Old Town,
Chinatown, and City Center
