PORT OF OAKLAND Announces New Maritime Business Development and Marketing Manager
Oakland, Calif. (October 7, 2004 ) - The Port of Oakland promoted Felicia Cousar to the position of Manager of Maritime Business Development and Marketing, effective September 25, 2004. Ms. Cousar is filling the position left vacant when Wilson Lacy was appointed as the Port of Oakland’s Director of Maritime in August, 2004.
Ms. Cousar joined the Port of Oakland in May, 2004 as the Maritime Special Commodities Manager. As the Manager of Business Development and Marketing, Ms. Cousar will be responsible for maintaining the Port’s current maritime business and generating new business through increased use of the Port’s expanded maritime facilities and assets.
“I am delighted to be able to promote Felicia Cousar to this position,” said Wilson Lacy, Maritime Director. “She brings a well-rounded background in transportation and logistics from the private sector. I see this as another step in the right direction as we continue to move forward with increasing international trade through the Oakland seaport.”
Prior to her appointment at the Port, Ms. Cousar was Northern California Regional Sales Manager for CMA-CGM America, the company that recently brought the largest container ship to visit the Port of Oakland. At CMA-CGM, Ms. Cousar led a sales team creating new customer relationships and international business.
Ms. Cousar was the Western Region Project Implementation Manager for Ryder System, leading the implementation of transportation management solutions for major clients like Northrop Grumman, Philips Consumer Electronics, in addition to many other multi-national corporations.
She held several positions at Sea-Land Services, Inc., the last as Pacific Northwest Key Account Manager where she designed, implemented, and managed supply chain solutions for Fortune 1000 companies.
“I’m confident our new maritime team will bring new business to the Port of Oakland, which will result in future economic benefits for our region,” said Port Executive Director Jerry Bridges.
The Port of Oakland oversees the Oakland seaport, Oakland International Airport and 19 miles of waterfront. The Oakland seaport is the 4th busiest container port in the U.S.; Oakland International Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in the nation with more than 13 million passengers a year; and Jack London Square is Oakland's premier entertainment spot along the waterfront. The Port of Oakland was established in 1927 and is an autonomous department of the City of Oakland.
