Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
What is TWIC?
TWIC is the Transportation Worker Identification Credential. It is a federal government ID that all port workers and truckers need to obtain.
Who needs TWIC?
  • Anyone who works in secure areas of marine terminals and
    needs unescorted access
  • Includes truckers, longshore labor, terminal and port workers, vendors and contractors
When is TWIC being implemented?
  • TSA began enrollment at the Port of Oakland on November 8, 2007.
  • Compliance date for the San Francisco Bay region: April 15, 2009
    (when TWIC will be required for marine terminal entry)
    will be no later than September 2008.
Where can you enroll?
Pre-enroll online or visit the Enrollment Center at Oakland Maritime Support Services 11 Burma Rd., Oakland CA 94607. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
