Notice
Port ballast water requirements suspended The State of California enacted a new ballast water management law (Chapter 491, Statutes of 2003) which became effective January 1, 2004. That law renders the Port's ballast water requirements in Port Tariff No. 2-A completely redundant. Therefore, in accordance with Item No. 02215 of the Port Tariff No. 2-A, the ballast water discharge restrictions and reporting requirements established by Port Tariff No.2-A are no longer applicable. Data collected under Tariff No. 2-A has been made available to the
State of California, and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.
Thank you for all your cooperation to date.
If you need additional information regarding the suspension, please
contact Ms. Jody Zaitlin at (510) 627-1179), or
jzatilin@portoakland.com. Information about the California ballast
water management law can be found at the State Lands Commission web site.
