The Port of Oakland is proud to be celebrating over
20 years of participation in the California Coastal Cleanup and Earth Day Shoreline Cleanup

As you may know, the annual California Coastal Cleanup is a statewide event. Protecting marine wildlife and promoting public education on the impacts of debris on our waterways are themain goals. In 2010, over 82,500 Coastal Cleanup volunteers removed more than 1.2 million pounds of trash and recyclables from California beaches, lakes, wetlands and streams. International Coastal Cleanup and California Coastal Cleanup Day together form one of the largest volunteer events in the world. Even with this level of participation, coastal debris is a pressing issue affecting the health of our waterways, wildlife and economy.
To contribute to the local and global effort, the Port organizes groups of volunteers to pick up trash, recyclables, and other marine debris along the Oakland waterfront twice a year for Earth Day weekend and the California Coastal Cleanup. It is truly inspiring to see what energetic groups of community members can do to help improve the health of our San Francisco Bay Estuary and the Pacific Ocean.
To thank our dedicated volunteers, we provide lunch and would like to have a no-cost raffle drawing / door prize. You can be an important part of either or both shoreline cleanup events and show the volunteers that you support their effort by donating a raffle prize. Your donations encourage volunteers' continued efforts to keep our shorelines clean and safe for all.
If you would like to donate a raffle prize, participate as a volunteer group, or would like further event information, please contact us at: 510-272-4802 email us.
Here's to a cleaner, safer San Francisco Bay Estuary and Pacific Ocean.
