In 2008, the Community Relations Department merged with the Employment Resources and Development Program (ERDP) unit. This redefined Department is one of three areas within the new Social Responsibility Division and is responsible for administration of a comprehensive outreach program that serves to increase awareness and understanding of the Port, its projects and policies; building and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships through partnerships and engagement; and promoting goodwill.
The following key community programs are in place to support this effort:
- 360° Access Program - A comprehensive workforce program (formerly known as ERDP);
- Maritime Aviation Project Labor Agreement (MAPLA) Social Justice Program - A collaborative partnership between the construction trades, contractors, the Port and community that encourages and provides linkages to community programs and services to local residents interested in construction industry careers;
- Stakeholder Meetings - Administration and/or support of various Port forums established to engage the community in the Port’s planning processes.
